About this notice
This notice describes how information is handled when you use gearafterhours.com, known as Gear After Hours. You can read our articles and product research without an account. We do not offer a newsletter, public comments, online checkout, or a reader account system.
We do not use publisher analytics, advertising pixels, behavioral profiling tools, or optional marketing cookies. We do not sell personal information. External websites have their own data practices, which apply when you follow a link to them.
Page delivery and technical information
Cloudflare hosts and delivers this website. When your browser requests a page or image, the hosting infrastructure necessarily processes technical information such as an IP address, the requested resource, request time, and browser or connection details. Technical logs and security signals may be used to deliver content, investigate errors, prevent abuse, and keep the service available.
Cloudflare describes its processing of traffic to customer websites, including end-user information and network data, in its Privacy Policy. These technical records can arise even when you simply read an article. Infrastructure data may be processed outside your country, depending on the service and the network route.
Information stored in your browser
The privacy notice can remember that you selected essential-only settings. After your selection, the site stores a local browser value named gah-privacy with the value essential. It is a localStorage preference, not an advertising identifier. Our application does not transmit that preference to a reader database. It remains in that browser until cleared or removed by browser settings.
Search is performed within the site’s article index in your browser. We do not create a publisher search-history profile. Like other page requests, requesting the search page may still be visible to the hosting infrastructure, including a URL containing search terms. Messages and information you choose to share
The Contact page offers an email link and may help you prepare a message in your own email application. The website does not submit messages to a publisher server or store form entries in a site database. A prepared message is not sent until you choose to send it through your email service. If you write to [email protected], the information you choose to provide may be used to answer the inquiry, assess an editorial correction, or deal with a rights or privacy request. Your email provider and the recipient’s email provider process the message under their own terms. Do not send passwords, payment details, identity documents, or information you do not need to share.
Information from an inquiry should be kept only for the purpose concerned and for any necessary legal or security follow-up. We do not specify a universal retention period for infrastructure records because their availability and retention depend on Cloudflare’s service settings and applicable obligations. Browser preferences can be removed directly by clearing this site’s stored data.
External links and purchasing
Our articles link to product manufacturers, retailers, documentation, and sources. Our current merchant links do not contain publisher affiliate tracking identifiers. External services may receive your IP address and browser details when you visit them, and they may use their own cookies, accounts, analytics, or purchase tracking. Their privacy notices apply on their sites.
We do not receive your payment information or fulfill purchases. If we add commission-earning links or features that change how information is handled, we will update the relevant notices before introducing them.
Your choices and rights
You can clear site data, limit cookies, and control local storage through your browser. Blocking a preference value may cause the privacy notice to reappear. Depending on your location and the information held, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing, and to complain to a relevant data protection authority. Those rights can be subject to legal conditions and exceptions.
The site is written for a general adult readership and does not invite children to submit personal information.
